Career, Business & Marketing Reception Wed. Dec. 18 1-3pm. With $1000s in prizes.

We’re giving back this holiday season.  I’m putting together a reception with a few friends to help local jobseekers and businesses.  It’s an informal occasion to meet me, our software company’s new Director of Sales, Maria Tago, and others to explore full or part-time job opportunities, get career advice, steer DallasBlue next year, increase your business sales, and supercharge your marketing.  Plus we’re giving away thousands of dollars in prizes.  Come say hello!

Building community in Denver

I recently joined Business Catapult, which powers investor and entrepreneur ecosystems for Groups and Events. Our technology Builds Better Businesses. Investor workflow tools manage venture submissions. Startups improve their business through funding readiness and benchmark ratings.

Our first deployment is in Catapult’s home in Denver where Business Catapult is committed to advancing Colorado business, technology, and private and public entrepreneurs. We’re pleased to unite with area groups to  support the  local community. There are two events in March that we ‘re helping with and recommend. If you’re in Colorado, please join us!

March 6 Sustain Denver at YouthBiz. Join renowed speakers and Denver icons Kevin Johansen and Lynn Price … and the winner of our Youth Entrepreneur Competition … as they share the power of Sustainable Ecosystems from Tech Startups to Community Development. This is a prime networking event to meet many local organizations and learn about the Angel Capital Summit.

March 21-22 Angel Capital Summit at University of Denver. ACS expects 400-600 attendees and is the largest investor and pitch conference in the Rocky Mountain region. The three day conference connects investors with entrepreneurs with valuable workshops, speakers, and networking events. The keynote speaker is Jim Franklin, the CEO of SendGrid.

Sustain Denver and the Angel Capital Summit encompass a variety of programs that can appeal to everyone, from investors to entrepreneurs to advisors to environmentalists to kids!  Check the many individual opportunities.

Learn about angel investing & a unique accelerator fund

On Thursday February 9 6:30pm I speak at Texas Land & Cattle in Richardson for an educational seminar on alternative investments. Vern Bell, President of Enterprise Benefits, also presents an overview of little known safe investments. Thanks to our sponsors, dinner is free!  I hope you can join us.

Understanding Angel Investing

Are you in or have you been interested in the high growth ventures? Did you ever wonder what Angel and Venture Capital Investing are all about and how to participate? Have you wanted to get in on the ground floor of ventures that explode into billion dollar IPOs like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Zynga? I will explain how ventures seek money, how angel investments work, and how they generate above average returns compared to the stock market. I’ll introduce the new and unique accelerator fund, which generates even higher returns with less risk.

Registration is required.

Tue Jan. 25 – Wine Not? Wine Business, Tasting & Networking

Wine Not? Wine Business, Tasting & Networking
with Wines.com CEO Alexander Andrawes
Presented by
Join Wines.com CEO Alexander Andrawes and our panel of experts in an evening showcasing the wine business, wine tasting, and networking. Alex presents how he built his business from the ground up along with some of the challenges and successes. Alex will guide you through a collection of wines that are prominent or up and coming wines, providing a tasting to give you that conversational piece that gets those ideas flowing. What better way to network, learn a little about wine, and get inspired about your own business?

Panel:

  • Dan Gatlin – Proprietor of Inwood Estates Vineyards
  • Lee Fuquay – Owner of Fuquay Winery
  • Melanie Ofenloch – Wine Blogger, DallasWineChick
  • Andrew Chalk – Writer, D Magazine

Alexander Andrawes is one of the longest reigning Chief Executive Officers in the history of Wine Retail E-commerce. Founded in 2000, and doing buinsess as Personal Wine, Alex began Pervino Inc. with just $30,000 in personal savings and now a successful multi-million dollar operation with over 50,000 customers and hundreds of channel partners from the Company Headquarters in Austin, TX.

In 2008 in a bold move under Alex’s direction, Pervino, Inc, acquired the Wines.com URL and has since worked to transform the way that consumers gain access to wines and wine information in one website that delivers powerful product content, video, and incorporates social media to deliver the worlds most pre-eminent wine domain. The Wines.com and Personal Wine business model has experienced high double digit growth rates in both 2009 and 2010, the most economically challenging years since the Great Depression.
